The John Gower Society is still seeking submissions for two sponsored sessions at the 52nd International Congress on Medieval Studies (11-14 May, 2017, Kalamazoo MI):
1. Gower’s Animals
2. Gowerian Afterlives
Proposals to be submitted to RF Yeager (rfyeager@hotmail.com) or Brian Gastle (bgastle@wcu.edu) by 15 Sept.
Submission requirements available at http://www.wmich.edu/medievalcongress/events/sessions.
Also, the John Gower Society is currently accepting proposals for papers and panels for the IV International Congress of the John Gower Society (9-15 July, University of Durham, UK).
The Congress welcomes all proposals that discuss the work of Gower or related authors, and is especially interested in research related to this Congress’s theme: “Gower, His Contemporaries, and Their Legacy in MSS and Early Printed Books, 1350-1550.”
The Congress is being conjointly organized with the Early Book Society, with some sessions devoted to Gower studies, some devoted to Early Book studies, and some that address areas of joint interest to both societies.
Papers solely on Gower’s works, texts, sources, comparison with contemporaries, etc. – in other words, the usual kind of submission for a Gower Society Congress – are welcome and encouraged. All papers do NOT have to focus on/include discussion of manuscripts or early printed books; of course, proposals which do both will be most happily received.
Proposals should be sent electronically no later than 1 November, 2016 to the conference email: gowerebs2017@gmail.com.
Complete CFP available at www.JohnGower.org.
