NEMLA CFP

am organizing a panel for the 2009 Northeast Modern Language Association
Convention in Boston, February 26-March 1, 2009.

Table Talk: Perspectives on Food in Medieval Italian Literature In the late
Middle Ages, food took on an increasingly powerful and ambivalent role in the
European cultural imagination. This panel seeks to explore the
literary sources

interdisciplinary perspective. Topics may include, but need not be limited to:
literary representations of food and the social occasions they create; food
ethics and etiquette; the religious significance of food; dietetics and
gastronomy; text as nourishment.

Papers are welcome in English or in Italian.

Please send 250 word abstracts to Christiana Purdy at
Christiana.purdy@yale.edu
